I first saw work by illustrator Elena Odriozola (1967) in a catalogue I got from a Basque publisher at the children's book fair in Bologna. I cut out the image in the middle of the bottom row, and still have it on the wall of my studio.
By now I also have 1 book with her illustrations: Pablo Neruda's Ode to a star.
I love the way her figures are both elegant and coarse at the same time, with their smallish heads and their big bodies.
On her website you can see she makes beautiful three-dimensional work as well.
