Today I want to look at the wonderful portraits by Hans Holbein the Younger (1497/98-1543)
These portraits are a sort of time-machine: not only do they tell us in detail about the fashion of the day, but the people in the portraits are so alive, you could meet them in the street later today.
With some of them, you can see the effort of posing for a long period.
Ofcourse we can't know if they are a good likeness, but they are certainly alive.
