Once more about David Cleverly, whose brilliant Hopeful traveller we recently bought.
Cleverly attended the Hastings school of art and Goldsmith's art college, London before settling in Devon where he now runs Haytown Pottery.
His funny and beautiful figures follow in the very British tradition of Staffordshire ware.
I also find it fits in perfectly with the illustrations to one of my latest books: Kak! zei de ezel , a book of 101 nursery rhymes and their translation/adaptation into Dutch by Koos Meinderts.
The hopeful traveller lives on our mantle now, as befits him.
