When i compared still lifes with eggs here earlier, a friend pointed out that I had forgotten the most important one: the Dutch painter Floris Verster (1861-1927).
He was right ofcourse, so I have to make amends by making Verster my Monday hero.
I know people that care not one bit for still life paintings, especially floral ones. I have to disagree. I am a fan, and certainly a fan of verster's work.
Both his early, clear drawings like eucalyptus and mistletoe above and his later atmospheric work with decaying leafs are exquisite.
