Monday hero: Firmin Baes

I had mistaken the name of the painter Firmin Baes (1874-1943) for an English one, and only recently found out he was in fact Belgian!

His work is very much 'of is time', a bit sweet maybe to our eyes, but I love these children's portraits.

A series of children, roughly in the same position, all with something in their hands, four even in the same chair!
