The French baroque painter Georges de la Tour (1593-1652) is best known for his ciaroscuro paintings, the lightsource often a candle hidden from sight.
But I am especially drawn to his faces, that I think are quite special.
Look at the man who gets his fortune told, and the woman next to him.
And look at the woman (Anne?) teaching the young virgin.
And especially look at the bundled up babies!
