Saul Steinberg (1914-1999) was born in Romania, studied architecture in Milan, Italy, but fled the fascist regime in 1941.
Via the Dominican Republic, where he had to wait for a US visa for a year, he came to the United States.
By then he had already published cartoons in The New Yorker, the magazine he contributed to for years, work he is best known for.
I also love the drawings he did on furniture and other objects.
